HOLD UP THERE, NOT SO FAST!
|
Cody Walker, one of our town's trustees, wants to build a mountain coaster on his property North of
his Sombrero Ranch horse riding stables and just East of Dry Gulch Rd. roughly opposite the Good Samaritan Society
(See Map). We have reason to believe this may be the first of
multiple amusement features, amenities and facilities to be added to the site.
Many of us in that area and around town are very unhappy and strongly opposed to such a development for several reasons.
Including ...
✅ |
|
The property involved is zoned RE-1 residential (not commercial), the implication being that more or less ANY residentially zoned property around town could be turned into a commercial amusement park. |
|
✅ |
|
There has been a distinct lack of transparency in the way the Town is handling this project: no public hearings or other opportunity for public input or community discussion. |
|
✅ |
|
This represents an acute conflict of interest for an elected, serving trustee. |
This site has been created to shine a light on the whole project, hoping that those of you who come to know what we know,
will insist that our town's trustees, and management, will do the right thing and not approve the project,
at least until there has been a legal review of the land use issues and the proper opportunity for public comment. This project is just wrong!!
Time is critical. We ask that everyone please take the time to look over the information we have provided on this site and follow one or more
of the courses of action we recommend in the "What You Can Do" page. And please come back to this site frequently: this is a fast-moving
situation and our action recommendations will change.
